Original Plein Air Colorado Landscape "View From Trail Ridge"

I did this painting on location in Rocky Mountain National Park as part of the Plein Air Rockies Fine Art Show.  This view of Longs Peak is viewed from Trail Ridge Road on the way up to the top of the pass.  The part of the scene that captured  my attention was the sky and the incoming clouds.  It was so windy that I had to hold onto my easel with one hand and paint with the other.  As I was finishing up, it began to rain lightly.
