I have now painted this house twice, on two separate occasions at the Central City Opera Plein Air Festival. The house is actually in terrible shape in real life, but I am captivated by not only the sky blue color of the house, but also the stunning setting. When the painting was on display, people of the area new it well. No one I spoke with knew the current owners or tenants, but one man said he played there as a child. It was fun to hear the stories of the place. In all honesty it should probably be torn down due to its poor condition. That being said, I really enjoyed painting it... twice. I will also mention that this is the largest painting I've ever attempted to do on location. I was a bit intimidated by the size of the canvas, but it turned out to be really fun and challenging.
