I have done seven lmited edition prints over the years. They are signed and numbered editions of 200 offset lithographs. I have done several open edition prints as well which I sign. So far I haven't gotten to reproducing any of my color pieces. To be honest, I haven't even investigated it at this point as I'm not sure I want to continue in the direction of reproductions. It's not that I don't think prints have value; they absolutely do! They are a great way for someone who doesn't want to invest in original art, but would still like beautiful artwork hanging in their home or place of business. Selling prints for an artist is kind of like bread and butter money. Unless the artist runs huge numbers of reproductions (i.e. in the thousands) and/or does prints from dozens of their originals rather than a select few, it's more of an added income as opposed to the kind of income that supports a family. So why am I considering not doing any more prints? Well, they are expensive, but that's not the main reason. I think right now I am more concerned about producing good work and there is something to be said for a piece that is truly the only one of its kind. I may get into publishing my color work on down the line, but for the time being my collectors and future collectors will only be offered the seven prints that I currently have along with available originals. The piece shown is the first one I had reproduced. It is called "Morning Light".
