There is a certain stance horses take when they first meet.  They sometimes squeal, sometimes strike out, but they always start with the touch of their nostrils.  

The arch of the neck is also pretty common. I was pleased to be able to capture this moment in today's drawing.  Working on a surface smaller than what I am used to makes it a fun exercise to see how much detail I can get.  The small size coupled with the short timeline to finish an artwork makes the detail that much more challenging.
